What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is a feeling of inability to sleep, usually accompanied by anxiety about the ability to function well with little sleep. In most cases insomnia is caused by a combination of wakeful hormones spiking at the wrong time, and unhelpful thoughts and actions.
How we can help you
We can help you to eliminate unhelpful thoughts and actions at bedtime, either on your own behalf or for your child. As well as dealing with anxiety about functionality on small amounts of sleep, we assist in reducing the wakeful hormones at bedtime. In many cases a coach is available at the exact time you are trying to sleep, because we have coaches all around the world, coaching in the USA, UK and Australia.
How you can help yourself
There is significant evidence that the placebo effect works well for insomnia in many cases. If the insomnia is experienced by a very young child, you can offer a soluble vitamin C tablet, explaining that this will help them sleep. Some people have found adding a small amount of blue food colouring to a glass of water can have the same effect, and yes, the colour has a positive effect.
