Imposter Syndrome

Hi there

Imposter Syndrome is where you believe you're not really qualified for the job you do and you're going to get found out at any moment.

I wanted to post this topic so we can get chatting about it.

A little bit about me. I have been a BFRB coach for over 20 years and my statistics certainly show that I am very good at it. The people I coach DO recover quickly in almost 100% of cases, but STILL I feel nervous when talking to clients on skype or facetime.

Does anyone else experience a sense of Imposter Syndrome in their own life?

  • Hey Neomie

Thank you for posting this. It is very much something I experience on a day-to-day basis. I am a lecturer and have studied for 8 years to reach this position. I am well-respected in my field although there is a part of me who cannot fathom why anybody would want to come and listen to me speak.

I am a member of Toastmasters and yet over and over again, I'm faced with that burning red face and palpitations. I take beta blockers, which makes those symptoms go away for the duration of the medication but I still wake up in the night worrying about the delivery of my lectures.

    Any advice that could help?
