In Part 1, we introduce the basics of Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs), including different presentations of picky behaviour, symptoms and underlying causes. We discuss comorbidity and address the recurrent nature of the picky behaviour. We then move on to explore possible relationships with tics and compulsions.
Part 2 moves on to delve into the unique challenges people face. We look at a typical week in the life of a BFRB coach. You’ll learn essential skills to gently nudge clients past avoidance and into recovery, Practical intervention techniques will be introduced.
You’ll learn holistic approaches and assess different tools to support clients in managing and overcoming BFRBs, so that, in their own time, they emerge beyond the pulling or picking behaviour.
Explore Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (a form of CBT), habit reversal training, and relaxation practices designed for those with alert and active minds.
Master long-established, effective coaching techniques for BFRB recovery, including goal setting, and progress tracking, to keep clients progressing on their path to self-acceptance.
Part 3 provides case studies, recovery materials and promotes quality care tailored to support those living with BFRBs and help them to first recover from and then prevent relapses, thereby encouraging lasting transformation. You’ll be pointed towards best practices for empathetic care and create personalised BFRB treatment plans. Part 4 Looks more deeply at the complexity of human personality, and the dissociation and separation of the part which wants to pick from the part pursuing growth. This stage, in particular, helps you develop the BFRB specialist knowledge for use as a compassionate and effective BFRB coach. We adopt highly-tested strategies and explain practical and more spiritual approaches. We help you develop your own coaching style and become the best BFRB advocate you can be.
Upon completing the course, you’ll receive a certificate which honours your dedication and effort. This will celebrate your care and expertise in delivering effective BFRB recovery coaching. You will graduate in acknowledgement of your readiness to make a meaningful difference in clients’ BFRB recovery.
